Description
This laugh-out-loud mystery set in Seattle pits Sunny Day Burnett against her millionaire neighbors, a flock of geriatric chickens, and an irascible Scottish detective. Sunny is a 30-year-old urban farmer whose husband has recently died in a car crash. Now her garden brims with organic vegetables, her fruit trees are laden with apples and pears, and her chickens are laying more eggs than she can eat. Sunny is beginning to adjust to life as a widow when she finds a neighbor, face down and dead, in her Swiss chard. The murdered man is clutching a photograph of Sunny's late husband wearing little more than a pick feather boa and red stilettos. Stunned, Sunny buries the picture in her compost bin, lies to the cops, and almost wipes the experience from her memory. Until an explosion rocks her gated community. Scrambling to save her home and her farm, Sunny raises the lid on a worm box of death, deceit, and slimy secrets. She discovers all the victims are connected to her husband, but how? And why? A suave, handsome and rich neighbor offers to act as Sunny's attorney - but at what price? Can she trust him? Can she trust anyone?
